The Chairman of Screen Australia (SA) Mr Glen Boreham has announced some of the new SA team under interim CEO Lyn Maddock. They are Chris Fitchett as Executive Director of Production Support & Investment, Tait Brady as Executive Director of Marketing Support & Promotion and Fiona Cameron in the position of Director of Strategy & Operations. Simon Konecny has taken the role of Head of Legal Affairs and Catherine Waters and Alex Sangston will rotate in the role of Head of the Producer Offset & Co-production. For those who missed it, the new SA Board is Glen Boreham (managing Director IBM Australia) (Chair), Ian Robertson (Managing Partner Holding Redlich) (Deputy Chair), Cherrie Bottger Head of Children’s TV and Documentary Network Ten and member of Board of PFTC), Rachel Perkins (filmmaker, member of NITV Board), Deanne Weir Group Director Corporate Development & Legal Affairs AUSTAR United Communications), Robert Connolly (Writer & Director) and Greg Smith Director, Public Affairs, Animal Logic) SA will firm up its design over the coming 6 months. |

The Queensland feature script, THE WITNESS TREE, written by Jacqueline Cook and developed by QPIX, has been nominated for a Monte Miller Award (Best Un-produced Screenplay over 30 minutes) at the 2008 AWGIE Awards. THE WITNESS TREE was developed by QPIX for the PFTC in the PFTC FEATURE SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. QPIX celebrates the fine work of our two supervising writers in the PFTC FEATURE SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, Michael Brindley and Emma Jensen. |

Two Queensland documentary projects, developed by QPIX for the PFTC within the PFTC DOCUMENTARY TREATMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, have been optioned by Sue Clothier, Head of TV Factual Production in the BECKER GROUP, for further development towards production. They are: - SHINTARO (Marco Sinigaglia)

QPIX held a new round of talks with the CEO of the Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency last month prior to establishing an international partnership in the development and production of ultra low-budget drama and other product, and training These talks were first initiated by the Executive Director of QPIX with organisations and filmmakers in Gyeonggi in 2006. |

QPIX will co-host a visiting delegation from the city of Sapporo, the capital of the northern Island of Japan, Hokkaido, in mid July. QPIX’s relationship with Sapporo is now in its 6th year, QPIX curates an annual selection of films for the Sapporo International Short Film Festival. This is expected to now result in a partnership agreement based on the development and production of ultra low-budget drama and other product, and on training. QPIX will continue to announce further developments in its Asia Pacific strategies over coming months. |
