Act 3

QPIX works under Contract to Screen Queensland and Screen Australia to develop and facilitate the production of an agreed number of short films and documentaries annually.

The QPIX production process happens in 3 stages, with some overlapping. We will call this third stage Act 3.

ACT 3 – PRODUCTION & POST-PRODUCTION

NOTE: The process mapped below for dramas is quite similar to that which applies to documentary. However, In the case of the documentaries, the development of the story that is emerging in the shot footage continues throughout post-production.

3.1         Once the productions are in place, the shoot takes place. QPIX visits set or location, and will offer assistance where needed.

3.2         Some edits may begin from the end of Day 1 of the shoot, but on completion of the shoot the edit begins. Additional elements such
as VFX, SFX and animation are initiated by the producer, who continues to give updates to QPIX on progress. QPIX will assist
where necessary, within resources.

3.3         QPIX views the rough cut with the producer and director and following discussion provides notes on the cut and on structure.

3.4         During this time the producer continues to gather, compile and deliver any outstanding material and documentation required
under Contract to QPIX.

3.5         QPIX views the fine cut with the producer and director with early forms of all FX inserted and following discussion, and if
required, provides notes on the cut and on structure. Following this QPIX signs off on the fine cut.

3.6         The producer takes the fine cut into late post for full assimilation into the cut of all FX and other materials, including credits. The
film is then taken through final mix and grade.
A slight setback in the FX suite…

Writer Jon Henricks, Director Simon Temple, Producer Essi Haukkamaa

3.7         The editing team cuts the Trailer.

3.8         The film and all Contract materials are delivered to QPIX by the deadline date and the copyright to the film is signed over to the
producer. This date will always be late in the year.

3.9         At a date relatively early in the coming year QPIX organises the Premiere closed-to-industry screening of all the films from the
slate of the preceding year.

3.10         Over the following 12 to 18 months QPIX assists the producer in submitting a selection of the films into film festivals nationally
and internationally.

3.11         Over that time and ongoing, QPIX continues to explore screening or broadcast opportunities for the films, as single pieces or in
packages.
