QPIX is Queensland's screen industry development centre, situated in Brisbane, Australia.  We are committed to developing independent production and independent screen production professionals in Queensland, and to linking the State independent sector with the industry at the national and international levels.  QPIX provides a range of integrated services to enable the development, production and exhibition of Queensland film, television and new media.

QPIX is a non-profit company.  QPIX must raise a significant amount of its own revenue in order to support operations and to continue delivering its services to the screen industry, but it is also supported financially by the Pacific Film and Television Commission at the state level, and Screen Australia at the Federal level.

QPIX Filmmaker gets key directing role

Queensland director Marty Moynihan will direct one of only three documentary projects selected nationally for the JDOCS initiative being run by the ABC and Screen Australia. Moynihan's project will involve shooting a documentary on the band SIXFTHICK as they tour through the Netherlands, France and Germany in October 2008. Moyinihan's recent QPIX film NINE MILES BEAUTIFUL has just won the Peoples Choice Award at the Courier Mail Queensland Short Film Competition, and has just completed another film for QPIX titled MY LITTLE KING.

Early QPIX Script Development Bears Fruit

Short drama SEIZE THE DAY has won the inaugural Courier Mail Queensland Short Film Competition prize for Best Film. The script by Ingrid Mason was developed initially by QPIX. Further development was conducted by the PFTC. The film was produced by Wade Savage and Directed by Alex Chomicz.

A QPIX Silver Halide Production NINE MILES BEAUTIFUL has won the Peoples Choice award in the Courier Mail Queensland Short Film Competition 2008. Written by Robert Braiden, Produced by Peter Blackburn and Graham Young and Directed by Marty Moynihan the film was produced in association with QPIX's industry partners KODAK, CAMERAQUIP, THE POST LOUNGE and ATLAB.

Queensland Representative for National Pitch Comp Selected

Producer Mellissa Hines of Fury Productions selected from the PFTC DOCUMENTARY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM presented in association with QPIX to represent QPIX and Queensland filmmaking in the SDA PITCH on the 24th of October 2008 at the SPAA FRINGE conference in Sydney (October 24-25th). Hines was selected as the producer who had secured the most letters of interest from broadcasters as a result of the development work done with QPIX.

K-9 Talks at QPIX

Some members from the K-9 television series script writing team met with producers Richard Stewart and Penny Wall of Limelight International at QPIX to begin early-stage discussions.

K-9 is a forthcoming Australian/Canadian comedy/adventure series, produced by Brisbane company LIMELIGHT INTERNATIONAL in a co-production with INSIGHT FILMS Canada.

It will follow the adventures of the robot dog K-9 created by Bob Baker, and will be presented in a mixture of CGI and live action.

QPIX Developed Documentaries Optioned

Two Queensland documentary projects, developed by QPIX for the PFTC within the PFTC DOCUMENTARY TREATMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, have been optioned by Sue Clothier, Head of TV Factual Production in the BECKER GROUP, for further development towards production. They are:

  •  SHINTARO (Marco Sinigaglia)
  • FEMME FIGHTERS (Peter Blackburn)
