Black Pearls 2009 was delivered under a system of government support that has been cancelled. The indigenous community stongly belive this landmark course should continue and members of that community are now assisting QPIX to make an urgent case to government to secure ongoing support for BLACK PEARLS. BLACK PEARLS 2009 was an outstanding sucess. It was the first Indigenous training program of its kind in Australia. Congratulations to all the students who completed this course.
A general overview of this Certificate IV in Screen and Media course is as follows
Over up to a 22 week period the production teams of students, under the guidance of an experienced filmmaker make a minimum of the following:
• 4 short dramas • 4 documentaries or family histories • 4 music video clips for working bands • 4 television commercials for companies under company brief
Participants will cover not just development and production but also all related administrative, legal, logistical and coordination aspects of the industrial process.
This outstanding course was supported by three major organisations in the community – Radio 98.9FM; The Centre for Aboriginal Independence and Enterprise; The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts – and was funded by the Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA) under the Strategic Purchasing Program. |
