QPIX – Your production pathway to success!

In addition to its work as a Talent Hub and a Centre for Screen Development in the Queensland screen industry, QPIX Screen Academy is also listed at the federal and state level as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

QPIX’s SIA is recognised as the most industrially focused Academy in the State. Our goal is to build an Industry so we do not train for training’s sake. Our goal is to have our graduates not only advance into contracts within the industry, but also to become the Industry leaders of tomorrow.

Our approach is to place production itself at the top of the list of priorities for the student because we know that production IS training – hands-on practical experience is critical to building skills for this industry.

QPIX delivers courses at the Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels, but in reality our courses are more like industry Master programs. However, we are very inclusive and supportive in our methods, and can bring talent forward at speed even if the student is coming from a standing start. Our BLACK PEARLS program is an example of how this support system can work so well industrially.

Our current Diploma of Screen & Media, titled THE INDUSTRY DIPLOMA, delivered under the federal and state government Productivity Places Program, is clear testament to this. Designed to focus on training Producers, and the first time the joint governments have allocated this program to any screen training organisation, this course finds all of the 25 students securing attachments within industry during the course. The cohort is also now planning the collaborative development & production of a feature at the close of the course.

The students in the first year of our nationally renowned Indigenous BLACK PEARLS Certificate IV in Screen & Media produced so much product it had to be cut down to 3 hours of television which has since broadcast on Foxtel, Imparja and the Indigenous Channel in Canada.

These are not the outcomes of a standard VET-level course – these are the kinds of outcome you get from the QPIX Screen Industry Academy.
